But one of the most dangerous bites you can get comes from something much closer to home.

A human.

The human mouth is one of the most bacteria-filled places on Earth. Hundreds of different kinds live between your teeth and under your tongue. They are there right now, while you read this.

When a human bites hard enough to break the skin, all those bacteria go straight into the wound. That is why doctors take human bites so seriously. The infection can spread fast. In some cases faster and worse than the bite of many wild animals.
