It was a quiet street. The kind where everyone knows everyone. The kind where nothing ever happens.
Until one evening, it did.
A man was found dead on his own driveway. Shot. His car keys were still in his hand.
The police went door to door. Nobody had seen a thing. Then they knocked at the house next door.
The neighbor was calm. Almost helpful. He said:
“I didn’t see the shooting. I only heard the gunshot from inside my house. The black SUV sped away before the man even hit the ground.”
The police arrested him immediately.
Why?
He said he saw nothing. Then he described everything.
Read his words again. He claims he only heard the gunshot from inside his house. But then he describes a black SUV. He even knows it sped away before the victim hit the ground.
You cannot hear a color. You cannot hear a man falling. The only way to know those details is to have watched it happen. Or to have been part of it.
His own alibi proved he was lying.
